morganics.jpgIt seems like Morganics has been around forever. He was one of the founding members of the hip-hop group Metabass N’ Breath. They were one of the most influential Australian hip-hop crews of the 1990s. Morganics can produce, rap, breakdance and beatbox. He also combines hip-hop with his theatre and acting background.

He has produced and performed in many productions combining hip-hop and theatre. The most recent of these was a collaboration with Wire MC called Stereotype. They performed this at Bennelong Point. Bennelong Point is the indigenous name for the land the Sydney Opera House is built on.

Morganics also played a crucial role in starting community-based hip-hop workshops. Morganics has travelled to more remote communities than any other hip-hop artist. He has shared his hip-hop skills and encouraged people to express their own stories in their own languages. He has also held workshops and performed in Long Bay jail.

Morganics is always travelling within Australia and overseas. He is the best example of the global nature of hip-hop. He has performed from Bondi Beach to The Bronx, from Tanzania to Tokyo. He has worked with individuals and crews from all over the world. He is always focused on how each local culture does hip-hop in its own style and language.
